Service – Pharmacy First
All our local Pharmacies can provide advice and treatment, including access to prescription medicines where appropriate, for seven common conditions without needing a GP appointment under a service called Pharmacy First.
The seven conditions are:
- Sinusitis (adults and children aged 12 years and over)
- Sore throat (adults and children aged 5 years and over)
- Earache (children and young adults aged 1 year to 17 years)
- Infected insect bite (adults and children aged 1 year and over)
- Impetigo (adults and children aged 1 year and over)
- Shingles (adults aged 18 years and over)
- Uncomplicated urinary tract infections (women, aged 16 to 64 years)
To access this service, you simply present at Boots, Day Lewis or Tesco and ask for help. There is no need to speak to a clinician at the Surgery beforehand.
Your GP or NHS 111 may also refer you to the Pharmacy First service if they think this is the best place for you to access the advice and treatment you need.
The consultation is free. NHS prescription charge rules apply where a medicine is supplied. Eligibility criteria applies.
